Behind the game

The sound between the pop and the wipe

The sound should follow your hands. Pimple Please uses one continuous slime recording for the opening and squeeze, then a separate paper recording for cleanup.

One opening, then a slower squeeze

When the pore opens, the recording begins with a close-up release. The quieter movement that follows continues while you squeeze. Lifting your finger pauses the recording; squeezing again resumes it from that point instead of playing another pop.

The extraction sound comes from floraphonic’s Thick Slime 18, edited for the game under the Pixabay Content License. We removed extra layers that made the quieter parts sound noisy.

The wipe has its own sound

The cleanup sound was recorded for this game by rubbing paper against a hand. We reduced background noise and kept the soft paper texture. It plays while the napkin moves and pauses when you stop.

Try both sounds in the game. The paper stays on the face if you release midway through a wipe, along with the collected material, so you can finish with another swipe.

What makes a realistic pimple popping game?

For Pimple Please, the useful details are the ones that explain what your hands are doing: skin compressing before release, a plug keeping its shape, and residue visibly moving onto the paper. Cream and yellow colour variation helps separate the material from the napkin. These are artistic choices for a fictional simulation.

The end matters too. Wiping reveals the cleared spot. Finishing the face brings back the full portrait and a small smile. That gives the action a result beyond an animation or a score. Our article on the satisfying part of popping separates this design reasoning from the available research.

Try it with your preferred settings

Sound starts after your first interaction because browsers generally require a gesture before audio playback. Use the speaker button to mute, or set the volume in Settings. The game remains fully playable without sound.

Reduced motion keeps the view wider. Relaxed mode makes pressure control more forgiving. Neither setting requires an account. “ASMR” describes the style we are aiming for; we do not promise tingles, relaxation or a therapeutic result.

Play the pimple popping game to hear the finished mix. All included source recordings are listed in the sound credits.
